Schiller is located in the southern highlands. The most notable feature is the Schiller and Longomontanus craters. The Schiller crater is unusual because the shape is a very elongated oval.
Geological Survey | Topographical Map
This region is named after the Germany lawyer Julius Schiller (1600 AD) who published a star atlas that replaced “pagan” constellations with Christian ones. For example, the zodiac constellations were replaced by the twelve apostles.
